Renaissance Punchy Electronics

Marytronics is a young electronic music duo based in Basel, comprised of Marie Delprat and Masha Ten. They merge punchy rhythms, pulsating bass lines and noise with intricate melodies and harmonies influenced by their affection to renaissance, baroque and contemporary epochs. Their musical constructions are based on characteristic elements of renaissance music, such as the use of drones, textural overtones play, or rhythmical structures from period dances (pavans, galliards), which are entangled with polyrhythmical patterns and contemporary academic music technics. By integrating these elements into genres like dark wave, ambient, hypnotic and minimalist techno, they create a dialogue between past and present, where the richness of academic music meets boundless possibilities of modern technologies of electronic music.
